Hoyer: Tea Party People Come From Unhappy Families

Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who has been the second-in-command in the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives for the past couple of years, is, like so many liberals, desperate to find the pathology that motivates the Tea Partiers...
There are a whole lot of people in the Tea Party that I see in these polls who don’t want any compromise. My presumption is they have unhappy families. All of you have been in families: single-parent, two-parents, whatever. Multiple parent and a stepfather. The fact is life is about trying to reach accommodation with one another so we can move forward. That is certainly what democracy is about. So if we are going to move forward compromise is necessary.
Wow. Just wow.

How freakin' disconnected from reality are these people? It's very hard not to just throw out the descriptive pejoratives (moron, idiot) but stupidity alone doesn't account for this kind of comment. There's just a deep, fundamental ignorance about what the Tea Party is, what it stands for, where the people come from, that's evidenced in that remark.
