I know, I know - we're not living in the city of God...
Thinking - still - about what the Democrats just did in significantly expanding the scope of the government intervention in the health care system, I ran across this passage:
Justice being taken away, then, what are kingdoms but great robberies? For what are robberies themselves, but little kingdoms? The band itself is made up of men; it is ruled by the authority of a prince, it is knit together by the pact of the confederacy; the booty is divided by the law agreed on.It depends, I suppose, on one's definition of the word, "justice," but it's hard to come up with a good reason to think that confiscating from many in order to provide services they find offensive to their moral sensibilities would qualify.
