Sports page odds and ends

  • I missed the first half of the Celtics game, watching a movie with the kids. I saw about the first 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter, then kept clicking back to see if it was getting better. It wasn't. That was an embarrassment for everyone involved. Inexcusable to lose a home game that way to that team.

  • The Wade Miller era begins at Fenway this afternoon. I don't know what they'll get out of him, because his shoulder is still questionable, and they've changed his delivery. I do know that he's 28 years old, and he's been an outstanding Major League pitcher for the past 4 years.

  • Everyone knew that the Patriots and Brady would get a deal done. And now it's official. Congratulations to the Patriots for getting the key player on the team locked up long-term. And congratulations to Brady on a very lucrative deal, while not unreasonably hamstringing the team down the road. Excellent work from both sides, and further evidence that as good as the management team is on the field, they're that good off it as well.
