Just tinkering around the edges...

Can someone point to a rational, logical, structurally sound economic policy-making reason for this?
Unions tentatively struck a deal Tuesday to exempt collectively bargained healthcare plans from a tax on high-cost plans expected to be used to help raise revenue for the healthcare overhaul.
Of course not! Because there isn't one. This is just another buyoff, like the Nebraska kickback for Ben Nelson, and the $300 million for Louisiana prostitute Senator Mary Landrieu, and the nursing home and medical school tributes for Vermont socialist SOCIALIST Bernie Sanders. Just one more constituency paid off to shut up.

When they finally come up with a bill to pass, it's going to provide universal coverage paid for by new taxes on married non-union employees and small businessmen in states with Republican Senators. That's the way to build a fair and just society, right?
